The Japan Times: San Francisco formally adopted a resolution Tuesday calling for the city to build a memorial to commemorate the “comfort women” who were forced to provide sex at Japanese military brothels before and during World War II.
The Indo Project: I was tremendously moved by the session today at San Francisco’s City Hall where Supervisor Eric Mar thanked grandma Lee for “changing San Francisco”. The Koreans were represented and so were the Chinese. I was there on behalf of The Indo Project and wondered, truly wondered, why no one of the Dutch Consulate, based in San Francisco, had bothered to come and show support of this issue

Education comes before sympathizing, wat niet weet wat niet deert. Let us not put the cart before the horse.
Het memorial is opgericht om mensen aan de weet te laten komen, niet voor sympathie.
Educating andere landen met wat “comfort women” hadden te verduren van de Jap gedurende WWII is een manier om closure te vinden vanwege Japanse apathy voor hun historische en morele verantwoordingen.
Het probleem is met de huidige Japanner, niet omdat zij degenen waren die de gruweldaden deden.
Het is omdat ze op ze’n best passively een cultuur van ontkenning en revisionism accepteren en op ze’n slechts het actief ondersteunen.
Die mensen van het Nederlands consulaat zijn helemaal niet bezig met Japanse seksslavernij van 70/80 jaar geleden . Aanwezig zijn bij dit besluit van een gemeenteraad is ook niet hun werk.
Present zijn bij een Nederlandse indiëherdenking te San Francisco is eerder iets wat de Nederlandse overheid zou moeten doen.
Maar er was dus flink wat media-aandacht voor deze kwestie in de stad ?

Is that not the standard attitude of the Dutch government against the Indo population and at the same time showing their (business) friendship with Japan.
Huh ? Wat een grote woorden allemaal. Het consulaat verzorgt toch alleen maar reisdocumenten voor Nederlanders in Amerika …

O ja, zeker niet erg op de hoogte van al hun werk en taken. Heb hier in LA hun op een andere manier leren kennen.
