Indonesia Nederland Youth Society (INYS):
On Thursday the 21st of April, the INYS welcomed President Joko Widodo to the Netherlands. During a special meeting at the Kurhaus Hotel in Den Haag, President Jokowi took the time to answer questions and take selfies with the audience.
INYS Founder, Rennie Roos received the opportunity to say a few words and ended by giving a friendship pin on behalf of the INYS to the President.
President Jokowi Widodo is visiting Europe. Germany, Great Britain, Belgium and the Netherlands. Four European Ambassadors all stationed in Indonesia wrote him an open letter. Wishing him a warm welcome.
I just want to cite a few sentences, important for Indonesia, Europe and the world.
‘’However economic growth is not enough unless it is sustainable. The protection of Indonesian forests and their ecosystems is a key priority in this respect. We stand shoulder by shoulder with Indonesia.
The moratorium on new forest concessions has been strengthened and further measures have been taken to restore and revitalize peach lands throughout the country. Indonesia’s commitment to fight forest fires and preserve the country’s ecosystems is courageous’’
In this light the visit of President Jokowi Widodo to Europe carries a heavy weight, see the You Tube video of Bhutan ( former Shangri La ), a tiny nation on the slopes of the Himalaya. But also for Indonesia a magnificent nation covered with forests, the lungs of the nations of our little planet.
As for the Netherlands we have already joined the efforts of Indonesia for sustainability and environment by the initiative of Jesse Kuijper , chairman of the Indonesia Nederland Society (indonesia-nederland.org) with The Borneo Initiative. People all over the world are ready to invest in this project.
Asia leads the world.
