Miesje de Boois, de  blonde vrouw, was gehuwd met Max Apitule en ze verbleef na de oorlog langere tijd in Indonesië. De foto is genomen tijdens de arisan van de ibu ibu van het management Tambang Timah Indonesia in Kebayoran Jakarta . Max was directeur van de Tin Maatschap.

    That was my Mom, Maria Johanna Apitule-de Boois. She married my dad, Ir. M.E.A. Apitule (Max) on December 17, 1948, in Hilversum, Nederland, and passed away in Billiton on May 16, 2011, one month short of her 92nd birthday. She was a wonderful woman, the best Mom anyone could ever wish for; she lived in Indonesia for so long that she did not even feel like a Dutch person anymore, but in the meantime she taught us Dutch songs and habits, all her children spoke Dutch fluently (ja, ik ook, maar vind het toch gemakkelijker om in het Engels te schrijven omdat ik nu nog maar heel zelden de gelegenheid heb om mijn nederlands te gebruiken), how to cook Dutch food (hutspot, stampot, olliebollen etc) and all other things good about the Dutch, mainly about what “clean” means 🙂 . When we were little we celebrated Sinterklaas and sang “Sinterklaas liedjes”, “Zie de Maan Schijnt Door de Bomen”, “Zie Ginds Komt De Stoomboot”… and put out our shoes 🙂 If I only knew how, I would love to send more pictures of my Mom during the time the Dutch were still in Indonesia to this site…
