Beste Mensen,
My name is Nico Diemel (Emanuel Nicolaas Diemel) I was born in Nederlands-Indie and also spend three and a half years in the Japanese Concentration Camps 1942 -1945. (several different ones)
My Father (Nicholaas F.J Diemel) died on May 1945 in a Japanese POW camp in Singapore.
I have applied for the WUV pensioen uitkering, from Nederland. My dilemma is that I can not prove that I was in these camps. (Most of my family is already dead, the few of us that are still here can not find any documentation with our names of those camps.(Ambarawa, Banjoe-Biroe & Solo)
The Red Cross only has our names in Bajoe-Biroe after the war (1945) the Bersiap period. It is so frustrating and painful that here we went through hell for three and a half year, and no one in Holland (WUV) believes us! There has to be a way to satisfy them and once and for all tell our story.
I found out that there are many of us old Indos who were turned down for the WUV uitkering. That is a crime and an insult for me. (65 years after the fact) There were many Japanese Concentration Camps on Java, where all the records and lists of all the names were never found! That does not mean there were no people in them!?
Adoeh …. soedah… Too bad for me the Japs did not leave us their records and lists in a well organized envelope with a pink bow on it….. they did not.
Can you, or anyone out there, help us through this difficult proccess? Anything would help at this point. Thanks for reading this. Nico E. Diemel 2105 NE. Kim Lane Bend, OR 97701 USA ndiemel@chesx.com http://www.diemel.name
