Indische jongen in Amerika

Ronald Armand Richardson Davies died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids, Mich. He was born in Tandjenog Enim, Indonesia, on May 25, 1936, to Udo Lucien and Froucke Henriette (Fransz) Davies, and as a child witnessed the Japanese occupation of his homeland during World War II. During that time also, his father was captured and taken as a prisoner to Japan. He was a member of the resistance so was treated harshly, but survived to return home at the end of the war. After the war, the family left Indonesia to live in the Netherlands. Mr. Davies served in the Dutch military as a young man. In 1960 he immigrated to America, and made his home in Michigan.
