We use to live in Bandung in 1956. My mother was director of the well known fashion store called Keller and Java Mode Magazijn on Jalan Braga. We lived above the store. On the picture was our little kumpulan on the balcony. Remember Maison Bogarijen? They were next door and made the most delicious Dutch breads, pastries and ice cream . The buildings are still there, but they are not taken care of. My mother’s maiden name is Ruth d’Abo (maiden name)(foto) and she designed a lot of the dresses herself and did the window decorating of those stores. At that time this was the best fashion store where you could buy the latest fashion clothes and jewelry in Bandung. Some of the customers/friends who would come and buy clothes were: fashion model Joyce Mouthaan, Nell Kawilarang and first wife of president Sukarno. My sisters and I were teenagers at that time and were more interested in going to the Dago Waterfall and Lembang swimming pool than being around this clothing business.
