Bubblin’s dark voice has been compared to a cross between Fats Waller and Joe Turner – it’s loaded with spontaneity and good-humored fun. Bubblin’ lets J-P and Wilco take the instrumental solos while his rhythm guitar provides the chords to the violin and accordion swing riffs. All the song lyrics are in English and Bubblin’ handles all the vocals in his uniquely joyful, soulful and infectious style. For his part, Wilco Jordi can easily and very favorably be compared with the jazz stylings of Stephan Grappelli.
The recipe for this group is to mix a little Tin Pan Alley with some Big Band tunes. Stir in some swing and season with some of Bubblin’s blues. And you’ll get a spicy goulash sort of neo-zydeco – a Javanese Jambalaya! This is finger-lickin’ good, pass the hot sauce and another cold brew, music!

This Bubblin’ Toorop Trio was a fun filled group producing easy swinging music with vocals in French English and whatever, and the disc offers sixteen titles guaranteed to amuse excite and evoke nostalgia from fans of this Swing era music. Starting with “I Got Rhythm” and the title piece, “Laughin’ in Rythm” and followed by “All of Me” and “The Sheik of Araby”, we are treated to sweet and gutsy swing. “God Bless the Child” gets a gypsy twist and so does Monk’s “Round Midnight” in a delightful manner. Hartverwarmend optreden van Bubblin’ Toorop Trio. Het optreden van dit trio is niet alleen een streling voor het oor, maar ook voor het oog. Het Bubblin’ Toorop trio speelde 15 04 93 in Ted de Braak’s Lunchpakket en samen met violist Frans Poptie werd het een waar feest in Sweet Georgia Brown. Het trio speelt al 13 jaar in dezelfde bezetting: De drie muzikanten die op een zeldzame manier show en muziek combineren en die op hun instrumenten swingen dat het een lieve lust is. Hun repertoire halen ze uit de Jazz, Swing en Blues en hun 16 NRS. Bevattende CD bevat juweeltjes waaronder: I got rhythm, The Sheik of Araby, Some of these days, Creole love call, All of me.
