.waar is dit park?
I am hoping somebody at Indisch4ever can tell me where these photos were taken. The year is 1939 and my opa Han Samethini is posing with his dance band, The Spirituals. It looks like they are standing in a park (botanische tuin?). Could this be Batavia or Buitenzorg? I am also attaching a newspaper article from the same period, about Opa Han’s band performing at the Societeit de Harmonie.

I have a personal question for Derk Hille Ris Lambers. I attended the 6th grade of the Lagere School in Buitenzorg (Bogor)- about 58 years ago. My name was Ellen van Moll. I was seated in the class next to Heleen Hille Ris Lambers. She made beautiful pencil drawings of animals (during class).

Aan de ene kant van het gedenkteken (linker foto)ontwaar ik zo’n drie regels tekst. Te wazig om te lezen. Op de oorspronkelijke foto moet met een loep die tekst te achterhalen zijn. Aan de andere kant, rechter foto dus, zie ik een W met een kroontje erop. Iets ter gelegenheid van (de troonsbestijging van?) Koningin Wilhelmina of zo. Misschien vergemakkelijkt kennis van die tekst de zoektocht.
