    Stand van handtekeningen Petitie comfort women – met dank voor uw moeite en reeds gegeven e-mailsignature . . .
    Tot op heden reeds: 1384 Signatures ! Lets see if we can find 200,000 signatures, one for each of the 200.000 women!

    An attempt to get this bill passed during the last Congress failed. A combination of strong pressure from lobbyists for the Japanese government and an unwillingness by House leaders to bring the bill to a vote prevented it from passing. However, this time many factors have changed. We can win. We will win.

    Dear Friends and Colleagues,
    The petition to support Comfort Women House Resolution 121 is 1384 signatures strong. Though it began as a United States petition to House Speaker Pelosi, we have received global support from citizens in Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, The Netherlands, The Philippines, Australia, Germany, Italy, France, Singapore, Austria, Hong Kong, Indonesia and Taiwan. If you go online you can read comments written by our international community, expressing concern, outrage, apologies, compassion, and testimonies from survivors of WWII comfort stations. It is turning into an amazing international document of support.
    The House Committee on Foreign Affairs has decided not to take action on the Comfort Women issue until after Prime Minister Abes U.S. visit April 26-27. This gives the petition one month to grow and to truly support House Resolution 121. If it passes, Congress will ask Japan to take full responsibility for the systematic rape and enslavement of the 200,000 women and girls during WWII.
    More importantly, the petition itself sends a strong message to surviving Comfort Women. It honors and respects their experiences and demonstrates to them that the global community hears them and believes them. Their experiences are a part of history.
    I urge you to send the petition around. Continue to post the link on your blogs, continue to send out email blasts and to announce the petition to your friends, your colleagues and your family members. After all, this is about our women. This is about how we choose to treat one another. Lets aim for 3000 signatures at the very least. Lets see if we can find 200,000 signatures for each of the women who suffered during WWII.

    The GOVERNMENT of Japan itself must apologize, not just Abe or his predecessors. ONLY an OFFICIAL declaration of the Japanese DIET (parlement) will be accepted by all parties concerned, not only by the comfort women, but also by those who were inside as well as outside the Jap.internment camps! Japan will then be able to show GOODWILL, though its past is not erased! But its lying and denying has stopped AND its fear of LOOSING its face ! ?
    ONLY THEN will this country of the “Rising Sun” regain the respect of the united nations and deserve a rightful place in the world.
    Wij moeten de druk op de Jap.ketel houden. Tot nu toe zijn al 892 handtekeningen verzameld. A.s. Mei wanneer Resolutie 121 over de troostmeisjes in het Amerikaanse Congres wordt behandeld, MOET deze goedge-keurd worden, mede door deze handtekeningen n de inmiddels bijgekomen vrstemmers, zoals de Canadese Parlementarirs: Canada’s motion is the first to demand compensation by Tokyo. Canadian Foreign Minister Peter Mackay (Wat een verschil met de SLAPPE Verhagen !) urged legislators to support the motion, saying it was THE ONLY WAY TO STOP FURTHER DENIAL OF THE WARCRIMES AND TO RESOLVE JAPAN’s DARK CHAPTER OF HISTORY ONCE AND FOR ALL!

    Begrijp mij niet verkeerd, ik ben het met het standpunt eens (en hd ook al ondertekend).
    Het NIOD bracht alleen maandag haar ‘oude’ stukken uit n.a.v. de huidige (terechte) discussie. Dr wilde ik alleen op attenderen.

    Het kan wel zo zijn dat het NIOD hier al veel eerder aandacht aan heeft besteed. Maar nog nimmer heeft de Nederlandse overheid van de Japanse overheid geeist dat zij onomwonden de morele verantwoordelijkheid moet nemen om deze schanddaden volmondig te erkennen. Het aan de slachtoffers aangedane leed is onvoorstelbaar groot en voor dat het te laat is MOET die erkenning er komen. De vroegere premier Koizumi heeft inmiddels een voorzet gegeven en het is duidelijk dat de Amerikaanse senaat hier ook zijn steen aan gaat bijdragen. Ook Korea en China laten duidelijke geluiden horen, alleen Nederland blijft angstig voorzichtig om in deze kwestie ook een hard standpunt in te nemen. De huidige Japanse premier Abe dient zijn opmerkingen terug te nemen want anders is hij het niet waard om zijn land internationaal te vertegenwoordigen. Ik begrijp dat de oude nationalistische generatie ontkent, maar dat iemand die ruim na de oorlog is geboren, tegen alle bewijzen in, durft te beweren dat er geen bewijs bestaat voor het bestaan van de troostmeisjes, is niet van deze tijd en ongeschikt voor de job die hij vervuld.
    Alleen al om die reden moet een ieder die dat kan zijn stem verheffen.

    De kwestie was eerder ook al actueel. Het NIOD Jaarboek besteedde in 1994 als een van de eerste aandacht aan de gedwongen prostitutie.
